NEWSLETTER FEBRUARY 2013

THE BRITISH ASSOCIATION OF MARBELLA – BAM

NEWSLETTER FEBRUARY 2013

The January BAM monthly lunch was held on January, 31st at Bodega El Duende. During the event BAM presented our 2 guests from Triple A with our Charity donation, a cheque of €400.

Unfortunately, six people cancelled on the day of the lunch. Obviously, if illness is involved it cannot be helped. Deals obtained at restaurants normally require an agreed minimum number, hence accurate numbers are desired. However; many thanks go to Violette, Fran and Mary for handling and arranging another great event. Also thanks go to Joe for the PR work thereafter.

The February BAM monthly lunch is to be held on February, 28th at El Capitan. During the event, BAM will be presenting our guests from Aspandem with their Charity donation, a cheque of €400. Please contact Violette, at the latest by Monday February, 25th, if you want to attend the lunch. The cost for the 3 course lunch, which includes the tip, but does not include a drink, will be €11.00.

It is most likely that the March BAM monthly lunch which is to be very held close to Easter will be at a Chinese restaurant so as to avoid Spanish celebrations, etc. Details are yet to be specified.

We are preparing to arrange a trip to see an Alfred Hitchcock thriller, Dial ‘M’ for Murder, at the Salon Varietes Theatre in Fuengirola at 19:00 Sunday, 14th April, with transport from the centre of Marbella. Anyone likely to want to join us must let Yutta know, by 1st April so tickets can be booked and transport organised.

Another trip is being considered to include a visit to the Butterfly Park and the Buddhist Stupa in Benalmádena being planned for early/mid April, with an entrance fee of €9.50. We hope to arrange transport to and from the centre of Marbella. Details of times and total costs will be issued later. Please would you let Joan, know, ASAP, if you might be interested, so far only 5 members have shown interest.

Reminder, until further notice the coffee morning on Wednesdays will be at the café within the Marbella Pensionista, 11 Calle de Juan Ramón Jiménez, Marbella.

El Corte Ingles has offered to give BAM a presentation about their free What’s Hot card which would give non-Spanish members discount on various items in their store and associated organisations. BAM committee members declined the offer, however if anyone is interested please contact Jan. Also see separate email on this offer.

Unfortunately, we have lost our previous website, but many thanks to Eva who has created a new site and Facebook for BAM. See, website: http://britishmarbella.wordpress.com/
