BAM NEWSLETTER JUNE 2014

The following press release was issued on the 25th May: The British Association of Marbella (BAM) held its May Monthly Lunch with a donation to a local beneficiary. Over 20 members enjoyed a delicious lunch at the Puerto Azul Restaurant, Marbella.

During the event, a donation from BAM was presented by Jan Jennings, President, to Maria Jose Morales, President of ASPENDAM.

The contribution is to be used, within ASPANDEM, to assist in the care and well-being of disabled children in the Marbella vicinity.

Unfortunately, both SUR in English and EWN did not give us any press; possibly due to the importance given to the abdication of the King!!! However, many folk were taking pictures and ASPANDEM did manage to get text and a picture published. I will forward their email on the subject together with their letter of thanks.

The next BAM monthly lunch will be at the Mare Nostrum on 26th June. The menu will contain meat and fish dishes. Please contact ASAP Violette, 952828988, at the latest by Monday morning, 23rd June, to book your place. The cost for the lunch, which includes the tip will be €14. Note; those who do not pre-book are not guaranteed a place. The lunch, as usual, will commence with arrival at 1.30pm for lunch at 2.00pm.

The BAM monthly lunches currently planned for 2014 are to take place at the following restaurants;

Thursday, July 31st  -  Angolino

Thursday, August 28th - El Duende

IES Victoria Kent School, the recipients of our donation, has confirmed that books have been purchased and our BAM labels have been stuck inside them to inform users of our donation. Remember, the school has requested BAM members to, later this year; assist at the school with students in conversational exercises. Potential helpers should contact Joan, 952835947. We have 4 names, but need others!

The theatre trip to Fuengirola by several members to see On Golden Pond was a great success. Thanks go to Yutta for organising the tickets.

Yutta has details of the comprehensive programme of forthcoming events at the Starlite Festival in Nagueles which runs from 25th July to 25th August. Tickets can be bought from Snap in La Canada and El Corte Ingles.

The Committee are considering arranging a trip to Malaga, to include the English Cemetery, Car Museum, Glass Museum and a visit to the new port area, possibly in September. Contact Joan, 952835947, if you want to attend.

Many thanks are given to Eva, who has created and constantly updates a website and Facebook entry for BAM. See, http://britishmarbella.blogspot.com.es/ http://www.facebook.com/pages/British-Association-of-Marbella/132505103576725
