Happy New Year to all BAM members. Let us hope we all enjoy a healthy year.

The December, Special Christmas time, BAM monthly lunch was held at the L'Angolino Restaurant, Many thanks go to Violette, Joan and Angret in working on its great success.

The next BAM monthly lunch will be at the San Cristobal Restaurant on 30th January. The exact menu will be provided ASAP, however it will contain a choice of meat or fish dishes. Please contact Violette, 952828988 or Joan, 952835947, at the latest by Monday morning 27th January to book your place and advise them of your meat or fish preference. The cost for the 3 course lunch includes the tip and a drink is €13.50. The lunch, as usual, will commence at 1.30pm for 2.00pm.

The BAM monthly lunches currently planned for 2014 are to take place at the following restaurants;
Thursday, January 30th San Cristobal
Thursday, February 27th Jaipur
Thursday, March 27th El Capitan
Thursday, April 24th Puerto Azul

At the recent BAM committee meeting it was decided that early in 2014 another venue will be trialled for our Wednesday coffee morning sessions. Two locations are currently being investigated and a final decision will be soon made and forwarded accordingly. At least 2 weeks’ notice will be given prior to any move from our current Pensionista location.

A BAM shopping/lunch trip, late Feb/early March, to the Aspandem Garden Centre is to be arranged. Please contact Fran, 952927807, if you are likely to attend and if you would require transport or could offer seats in your own vehicles to other BAM members.

If there is enough interest received by Violette, 952828988 or Joan, 952835947 by mid- February, a day trip to Antequera will be arranged for March/April, which includes transport from central Marbella. Please act quickly as numbers are very limited.

Other activities/events are being investigated by committee members. If you have any ideas please contact Violette, 952828988.

The November BAM monthly lunch was held on Thursday, November, 28th at the Puerto Azul restaurant, C/ Camilo Jose Cela 3, Marbella. It was generally considered to be one of the best lunch events this year. Many thanks to Violette, Joan and Angret in working on its success.

The Special Christmas time menu will provide a choice of lamb and fish dishes. Please contact Violette, 952828988 or Joan, 952835947, at the latest by Monday morning to book your place and advise them of your lamb or fish preference. The restaurant is very cosy with a limited seating of 24 places. Your place will only be guaranteed once full payment, €25, has been made. The cost for the 3 course lunch includes the tip and wine on the tables. The lunch, as usual, will commence at 1.30pm for 2.00pm.

The December, Special Christmas time, BAM monthly lunch will be held on Thursday, December, 12th at the L'Angolino Restaurant, Avenida Ricardo Soriano 29, Marbella, 29601.

The Special Christmas time menu will provide a choice of meat and fish dishes. The meat dish will definitely be lamb and the fish offering will definitely be made from local fresh items.   The actual menu will be issued later and all confirmed diners will be asked to select their choices a few days prior to the event.

Please contact Violette, 952828988 or Joan, 952835947, at the earliest opportunity to tentatively book your place. The restaurant is very cosy with a limited seating of 24 places. Your place will only be guaranteed once full payment, €25, has been made. The cost for the 3 course lunch includes the tip and wine on the tables. Places confirmed will be on a first to pay basis. Payments will commence to be taken next Wednesday at the coffee morning session. The lunch, as usual, will commence at 1.30pm for 2.00pm.

The October BAM monthly lunch was held on Thursday, 31st October at the bodega El Duende. Many thanks go to Joan for handling and arranging another great event for 22 members and to Angret for collecting the money.

The November BAM monthly lunch will be held on Thursday, November, 28th at the Puerto Azul restaurant, C/ Camilo Jose Cela 3, Marbella. Please contact Violette, 952828988 or Joan, 952835947, at the latest by Monday, November, 25th, if you want to book your place for the lunch. The cost for the lunch, which includes the tip and one drink, will be €11. Note; those who do not pre-book are not guaranteed a place. The lunch, as usual, will commence at 1.30pm for 2.00pm.

As from now on, the coffee morning commencing at 11:00 on Wednesdays will revert back to the Marbella Pensionista in Calle de Juan Ramón Jiménez, Marbella. However, with the high noise level at this venue the committee is seeking another suitable location. Last week, the Pensionista was holding their own event and with the 15 BAM members it became difficult to communicate with one another.

Suggestions have been proposed but as yet a special Christmas event has not yet been agreed by the committee.

Only 2 members have shown interest in a trip to Antequera so no specific BAM event is to be arranged.

Any other ideas or direct help for outings or events would be welcomed at any time.

The 2013 BAM AGM was held in Violette and Tim’s house on 9th October. Many sincere thanks to Violette and Tim for their generous hospitality in making us welcome in their home for the AGM.

All BAM committee members resigned at the AGM. The new officers elected are:

The September BAM monthly lunch is to be held on Thursday, September, 26th at the San Cristobel. The coffee morning on Wednesdays during September up to the date of the AGM will remain to be held at the café of the Marbella Inn Hotel, also in Calle de Juan Ramón Jiménez, Marbella. Just up the same road as the Marbella Pensionista.

It has been suggested that we organise a trip to Antequera. At this time Joan has not received any responses from members.

The AGM will be held in Violette and Tim’s house on 9th October Please advise Violette if you are to attend, 952828988, and arrive at 12.15 pm for a prompt 12.30 start. No formal arrangement is planned for lunch, however several members are to use a tapas bar nearby. We are advised that €5 will get a drink and 3 tapas. The tapas bar would give members flexibility regarding how much they wanted to eat.

During the AGM committee members are elected for the next year. All current committee members are prepared to stand again. Any other nominations must be received by Joan, 952835947, by September 26th. The BAM annual subscription fee remains at €12. This must be paid either before or at the commencement of the AGM. Please ensure Angret has your fee. Only paid-up 2013-14 members are eligible to cast votes for committee members.

The August BAM monthly lunch is to be held on Thursday, August, 29th at Restaurante Gran Shanghai, C/Gregorio Maranon, 8. Please contact Violette, 952828988, or Joan, 952835947, at the latest by Monday, August, 26th, if you want to attend the lunch. The cost for the nine course lunch, which includes the tip but not a drink, will be €13. Note; those who do not pre-book are not guaranteed a place. The lunch, as usual, will commence at 1.30pm for 2.00pm,

Due to the closure of the Marbella Pensionista, the coffee morning on Wednesdays during August will be held at the café of the Marbella Inn Hotel, also in Calle de Juan Ramón Jiménez, Marbella. Just up the same road as the Marbella Pensionista.

The proposed trip to the Aspandem Garden Centre in Urbanizacion Nueva Andalucía, has been postponed until the Spring to suit the planting season, etc.

It has been suggested that we organise a trip to Antequera. At this time we are asking for those who may be interested to contact Joan, 952835947, so we can judge the feasibility of such an event.

The AGM will be held in Violette and Tim’s house on 2nd October. As we need an affordable and central location for the lunch following the AGM it was suggested that either the Central café in Orange Square or a tapas bar nearby could be used. The tapas bar would give members flexibility regarding how much they wanted to eat. Violette is to look into prices for us. More detail to follow.
